In 2023, a second construction phase will revamp the ResCo dining hall to match the building’s 2022 redesign. Patios will include spaces for both relaxation and fun, with one featuring terrace seating surrounded by plants and the other inviting students to join in outdoor games with friends, dine al fresco, or gather around a fire. The project also reimagines ResCo’s outdoor environments. A second-floor common area includes a functional workspace with a lounge-like design, while the main lobby’s brighter colors create a sense of energy. Finishings feature geometric patterns with soft tones of grey, blue, and white. Visually, the design emphasizes cozy vibes with artwork, natural materials, mid-century furniture, and muted color schemes. Upgrades will also be made to corridors, public restrooms, plumbing, and air handling units throughout the building. The project was designed by architecture firm Solomon Cordwell Buenz and will be completed by Turner Construction.ĭuring the summer 2022 phase, all of ResCo’s suites will be updated to match a group of eighteen rooms that were already remodeled in 2019. Interior and exterior renovations of the building’s residential areas are now scheduled to begin in May 2022, and a remodel of the ResCo dining hall will take place the following summer. To make a request for an exception to the Residency Requirement, students should complete a Non-Residential Request in the housing portal.Butler University’s Residential College (ResCo) is about to undergo the most extensive renovation the building has seen since its construction in 1988. Students who move off campus during the semester or a summer term will be required to pay the full charges due to the University. ExceptionsĮxceptions to this policy, or requests to live at home as a commuter student, must be approved in advance by the Office of Residence Life. ![]() ![]() This regulation applies during summer, as well as during the regular academic year it also applies regardless of the number of academic hours taken or the student’s age. All sophomore and junior students (including those affiliated with a Greek organization) not living at home with a parent or legal guardian will be required to live in University housing or an approved Greek Housing unit of which the student is a member. All first-year students not living at home with a parent or legal guardian are required to live in one of the University residence halls.
